The Big Dog's claim to fame is its brightest star, Sirius, which is the brightest star in the sky. In fact, only the Moon, Venus, Jupiter, and Mars are brighter than this star.

 

There is no real story to Canis Major or his partner, Canis Minor. They were the hunting dogs of Orion, and followed him to the stars.
