Most widely known for being an astrological sign, the horoscopes aren't too far off on Leo's personality when they describe him as arrogant and prone to interfering with others' plans.

 

Leo represents the Nemean lion, a beast of impenetrable skin that Hercules was tasked to kill as his first labour. He succeeded by wrestling the lion, strangling it, and using one of the beast's own claws to skin it. Hercules wore the lion's skin on his back for protection from then on. It is believed that, because it was the lion's skin that helped to protect Hercules, he was rewarded by being placed among the stars.
